OpenPlant PID Help

User Component

Lets you create a unique OpenPlant PID component from basic unintelligent geometrical shapes in the P&ID.

Accessed by selecting the User Component option from the Conformance Tools gallery.

Begin by using options from the Base Geometry toolbox to draw shapes for the component, or you can select existing shapes if desired.

Select the User Component option from the Conformance Tools taskbar to display the Component Type Selection dialog. This dialog enables you to assign a component type to the selected geometrical shape.

Note: If the component type selected is an in-line type of component, a User Component Options dialog displays allowing you to define the default orientation angle for the component.

When placing a component that not designed to be placed in a run, the component Properties dialog will display providing options to define a tag number and various property values for the component.

Assign a tag number for the component and define the remaining properties as needed. When finished click OK to complete the process.

Note: You can view/edit the new component's properties using the Properties dialog.

Annotation

The new component can be annotated using the Annotation dialog. Right-click on the component and select the Annotate option from the context menu.

Note: Important: This option does not define a new component type which is stored in the schema like the Component Manager allows you to do. This command only allows you to assign a component type, tag number and property values to existing geometric shape(s) in the drawing. You are, however, able to use the Copy command to create additional instances of the new component.
